I was here last night!! I have to first say if you are wanting to celebrate an anniversary this is an excellent choice. First the view is breathe taking its located on the 68th floor. Being an American I was excited too see it was American cuisine with a hint of southern influence. Down south you will see more cajun and spicy food verses from up north in my home country. The food was a trip down memory lane it was packed with lots of flavor.

I started off with a appetizer called Hamachi which contained wasabi, radish, ginger and soy. It was a nice light way to start our meal.

Then we ordered the southern fried chicken served covered in tabasco and honey just the right amount of hot and sweet.

Also attempted the jumbo prawns which was smothered in butter only way to do the south right we cook everything in butter.

Ending out meal with a t-bone steak. Between the delicious food and the breathe taking view I highly recommend people to try this place for any date or anniversary.

On my husband and mine scale we give it a solid 10 out of 10.

Thiptara Thai Restaurant

Got a chance to do a food review I been a slacker this past year with my crazy work schedule. I have dabbled into a little bit of everything in my free time. First place I got the pleasure in reviewing since I am free more these days is a place downtown Dubai called Thiptara.

My lovely husband is my food partner in crime. First off I absolutely love this location downtown. It’s a perfect place to have a nice weekend brunch next to the dancing water show at The Palace.

The atmosphere was relaxing and I enjoyed the live DJ they had. Unfortunately I forgot her name but the music was slightly too loud but it was still nice.

What Asian restaurant wouldn’t be complete without some yummy dumplings. My husband loved these and he is super picky.  We had two types of dumplings which is excellent for a starter we had vegetable and chicken. Our favorite is naturally the chicken dumplings as for we are not vegetarians.

 I also had a nice salad and coconut soup to start off my meal which by the way was a excellent opener in my book. The salad was a nice cool way to start the meal the soup was a little slice into heaven.

Couldn’t forget my veggies I been on a diet lately and well this is pretty healthy not only that who can truly hates stir-frye veggies they were nicely seasoned and delicious to consume.

The fat kid who loves cake inside me absolutely adored the dessert bar. However, since I was already being bad with eating too much food I didn’t really go too crazy between the dessert bar and the coconut ice-cream.

This place was already winning my family over. However, alcohol a girls best friend after a long hard work week. This by far made my day a lot better. Nothing better then good food with a nice drink to go along with it.

My boys were defiantly happy!!! This place offers literally a little slice of heaven. We had  AMAZING FOOD, GOOD MUSIC, DRINKS, AND EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

I give this place a solid 9/10 on the Ame’s Boy scale.

Magicfly Hair Straightener Brush – Anti Scald Anti Static Ceramic Hair Straightener

 

 

I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical when it came to this brush, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the results. My hair is very wavy, coarse and isn’t very manageable, so it takes me a long time to reach my target results even when using a regular flat iron. This straightening brush actually accomplished what usually takes me almost an hour, in just about 20 minutes. This brush takes away the extra work of having to brush each strand of hair before using the flat iron, you can do both at the same time, so the time spent is practically cut in half.

The tips of the bristles are painted red, but they are no the part that gets hot. It is the shaft of each bristle, so the hair is separated in between each bristle and straightened in much smaller amounts, which makes this so much more efficient. The brush weighs a little more than a large flat iron, but it is well worth the weight it packs. It also is nice because you can get so much closer to your scalp than a regular flat iron, so it is ideal for curly and wavy hair.

I am very happy with the results I have seen from this item, and I would definitely recommend it to others. Specially anybody with curly-thin but thick hair I been told I have fine hair but tons of it.

8″ Green Earth Frying Pan by Ozeri, with Textured Ceramic Non-Stick Coating from Germany

This 8” Green Earth Frying Pan by Ozeri is definitely my favorite frying pan. So far this is my first one from this company. It has become my go to pan.

Why I love this pan is that it has a GREBLON coating. It’s free of PTFE, PFOA, and other harmful chemicals. That is a huge plus in my book! We have to be more careful these days of what we are putting into our bodies and in the air. Here’s a quick rundown of what this means. PTFE releases toxic chemicals into the air. PFOA is also a pollutant to the environment. With the GREBLON coating, you will not have any of these problems.

As with any new dishware or kitchen appliance, always clean the product first. This frying pan is very delicate so be sure to wash with a soft cloth or sponge. I never put this in the dishwasher although it is probably safe to wash on the top rack. It is recommended to rub the surface with a tiny amount of oil or butter with first use and wipe away any excess left over.

The company is also so amazing it also gives you a extra item to put in your pan when storing it too keep the coating safe. I been guilty of scratching my pans due to pure laziness and throwing them around this little small extra will defiantly help ensure I don’t mess up my frying pan.

Also a little neat knowledge from the user guide it mentions something that I did not know before. It is suggested to let the pan cool down before cleaning. It says that a drastic temperature change can cause thermal shock and effect the pan’s coating. If you pour cool water over a hot frying pan it will cause the pan to crack over time. I always thought you should clean the pans immediately to eliminate a cake-on mess. This is definitely something new to me.

I absolutely love this pan. It cuts my cooking time down and it cooks my food evenly. I’ve never had a sticky mess in the pan and it cleans easily. I love that it’s eco-friendly. The silicone handle makes it easy to grip and never gets hot. I highly recommend this frying pan. I haven’t found one that I like better. If you want a PFOA-free and PTFE-free cookware option without sacrificing quality, this is the perfect option for you. This would also be an exceptional gift option for any occasion.

Doug Pitassi’s 15 Best Restaurants in Portland

I got a chance to get a book from a fellow foodie Doug Pitassi. I have never been to Portland but I found the book extremely interested as deep down I am more a foodie then a product reviewer. I would be interested too know more about the places from another local but overall these places are defiantly worth checking out. Spa Home Facial Steamer Sauna

 

First of all, let me take about packaging. This facial steamer arrived in the manufacturers box, wrapped in very light brown paper. That translates to a very banged up box which you can see from my picture. I was excited to try this because it comes with frankincense and myrrh. However, I didn’t realize it was one bottle of the oils combined together, not that it really matters much but I was expecting two bottles. I was very disappointed because the bottle I received was just over half full! I find that completely ridiculous and I would have been quite upset if I had paid for this product. The bottle claims to be 20 mL so you don’t get very much, but it does seem to be fairly good quality oil and it did work well.

Moving on, I had never used a facial steamer before so I spent about half an hour trying to figure out what the spare piece was. The directions which came with this were absolutely no help whatsoever, but after watching a few YouTube reviews I learned it is apparently a nose piece which I guess you just place inside the steamer and rest your nose in to focus the steam there. This product was made in China, so let’s just say the directions are not the best.

To be honest, I found the concept of placing my face over a thing of boiling water mixed with oil to be scary at first. You hear so many things about product accidents and whatnot, but after a few times of using this I got used to it. This steamer has two heat settings, low and high. I found the low setting to almost be too hot. Hopefully once I use it more, I’ll get used to the temperature a bit. This does work very well on clearing out the sinuses. I found after I used this, my eyes and nose were runny and I had to grab a tissue. Also, after the first use I did have an outbreak of acne but after that first use my skin seemed to begin to clear up.

I’m grateful to have this on hand at the moment since I do have a sinus infection and whatever other funk is going on with my body. This definitely helps. So despite the few problems I had with this product, I am very satisfied with it.

Brieftons NextGen Spiralizer

Received the Spiralizer on time and great condition as well as an email with link to the e-book with recipes last week, it sat in the box for a few days until I got the veggies to test it out. I debated between this one and the other Briefton’s Spiralizer that was slightly cheaper (Briefton’s Spiral Slicer which has non-removable blades and slightly smaller capacity) but since this one had removable blades and larger size advertised, I decided to go for it and I think the extra ~8$ was worth it.
Pros:
-It is a good size and easy to hold but still easily fits in a drawer.
-Extra blades- I have never used a veggie spiralizer before but after a quick wash, it was already set up with blades to go
-Quick: My first trial with a carrot was easy and done within 5 minutes including prep to peel and washing/putting away. Didn’t even need the cleaning brush the first time
-blades are easy to remove and wash clean. Easy to switch around.
-little waste – there is some waste of a cone shaped end as expected but it isn’t huge but usually you can slice it up and throw it into the mix of the salad
Cons:
-see below re tip on the finger guard
-probably will stain if you leave it unwashed esp if you used carrots or beets/strongly pigmented vegetable
Tips:
– the blades are sharp so watch those fingers, I stuck my hand in to dislodge the carrot piece and got a little nick (however since I have frequently cut myself even when using peelers let alone knives, it is more my clumsiness than the device itself)
-I discovered when trying smaller vegetables, ie beets, the cone shaped finger guard cap would not get a firm grasp on the beet and started shredding the outside end when I tried to turn. However when I used a fork to stab into the beet, I had a good grasp with the tines halfway into the beet and was able to make a good amount of beet “spaghetti” this way. It will take some more experimenting to see how to best use the finger guard cap.
Overall verdict: -any device that can get me to eat a raw beet in less than 5 minutes/prep+ cleaning is a win! Somehow shreds of vegetables are more fun to eat!

Brieftons Salad Spinner Review

The Brieftons salad spinner is really easy to use & effective. I love the size! You can fit large, full size leaves without breaking them up, so perfect if you want to use your lettuce for a wrap. We have 8 people in our family & the little 3 quart spinner wasn’t cutting it. The pump mechanism gets the salad much dryer then the other one that we had to turn a handle. Because it is so large you may need to move the greens around & spin 2-3 times to get it as dry as you would like, but you still end up with a large bowl of dried greens in less time then seperatly spinning it out in a smaller spinner. The other nice thing about this spinner is the large bowl without holes at the bottom. Many other salad spinners have holes at the bottom so you have to spin over the sink so the water can drain. I found spinning over the sink, especially when it has a hand crank to be very aquard. With the large bowl it isn’t at all aquard, you can just set it on the counter or table & pump. The water will pool in the bottom of the bowl, but your greens will be dry. Thank you, Brieftons for a quality product!
